We want an Application Engineer to join our community of experts in DWP Digital as part of our brilliant Contact Centre applications team.

DWP’s Contact Centre is one of the largest in Europe and provides the primary communication paths for 20 million claimants and customers who use the DWP’s welfare, pensions and child maintenance services.

You’ll design, build and maintain applications that make it easier for people to access support, and which help our front-line colleagues provide a better service.

As an Application Engineer, you will be part of the DWP’s Next Generation Contact Centre (NGCC) team, developing and supporting Contact Centre technologies.

We set the standard when it comes to applications in DWP’s contact centres. We guide teams on how to deliver quality applications, establish best practice and give expert advice,

You will design build and maintain applications as part of an agile multidisciplinary project team. You’ll use the latest tooling, and innovative thinking to find elegant, robust, and stable solutions to unique engineering problems.

You’ll make it better and easier for millions of people to get in touch with DWP and get the right help when they need it.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • Ability to use application management software and tools to investigate and resolve issues, collect performance statistics and create reports with analysis.
  • Able to co-ordinate build activities and understands how to undertake and support integration testing activities.
  • Ability to understand the strategic drivers for your area of work. Align activities to contribute to wider organisational priorities.
  • Drafts and maintains procedures and documentation for applications support. Manages application enhancements to improve business performance.
  • Domain/Software experience such as Genesys applications (including core contact centre, Routing, Reporting, WFM and Desktop), Verint, Omilia and Nuance.

You’ll join us in your choice of our digital hubs in either Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield.

In return for your skills, we offer a competitive pay up to £50,719.

You’ll be eligible for a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 27.1%.
