Our client based in Borehamwood (Elstree) is a leading Managed Services IT provider.

They are currently looking to recruit a 3rd Line Support Engineer on a permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with ambition as there is scope to grow into other roles within the business.

Role: 3rd Line Support Engineer

Location: Borehamwood (Elstree)

Salary: up to £45,600pa

Essential: driving license as their will be occasional travel required

Essential Experience:
• Have excellent experience of both Windows and preferably some Apple desktop operating systems.
• Have excellent knowledge of as many of the below will be highly beneficial
o Network hardware of LANs and WANs including servers, switches, firewalls routers etc.
o Windows Server + and Active Directory including Group Policy
o Exchange Server 2010 or newer
o Terminal Services\Remote Desktop and Thin Client
o Virtualisation with VMware ESXi and VCentre 4 and above
o SAN and NAS technologies (HP and Fujitsu preferred)
o Firewall, network topologies, infrastructure and VPN Technologies including SSL services (Dell Sonicwall preferred)
o Public, Private and Hybrid Clouds including Office 365 (possibly Azure)
o HP and Cisco Switching, Vlans, routing etc

• Desirable experience
o Network software including TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP protocols
o BES – Blackberry Enterprise Server
o Back up and replication strategies (Asigra Experience is highly advantageous)
o Scripting such as Powershell, VBA, BASH etc
o SQL 2005 or newer (would be desirable)
o HP Lefthand knowledge
o Citrix/Xen

Attributes and Duties:
• Have excellent support experience
• Be able to provide strong server, network and desktop support
• Maintain agreed SLA’s, updating ticket information as you work from diagnostics through to resolution
• Keen communicator – keeping clients updated as to the progress of their ticket status
• Assist\mentor colleagues in line with escalation procedures
• Don’t be shy, you may have to visit client sites to resolve the problem where tickets cannot be resolved remotely
• Maintain a high degree of customer service, professionalism and integrity
• Be able to carry out project installations for new hardware and software
• Produce and update technical documentation
• Work to deadlines and adapt quickly to a fast changing environment

Highly beneficial:
• Microsoft certified and one other such as Sonicwall CSSA, VMware VCP etc
