Mechanical Design Engineer

Working as part of an experienced design team you will be involved in mechanical design of high end manufactured products using the latest CAD software.

Responsibilities:
• Design, calculation and analysis.
• Presenting technical information (drawing standards, tolerances, documentation etc.) to internal engineering team.
• Produce designs suitable for purpose and manufacture, within the budget of cost/hours.
• Document designs including budgeting information.
• Investigate, identify and utilise suitable materials and products in designs.
• Identify the implications of design changes (in terms of cost and performance), identify additional parts affected by such changes, and resolve any issues arising.
• Maintain a design file documenting design decisions and the calculations or analyses used to support these decisions.

Skills:
• High level of proficiency in use of CAD
• 3D modelling of parts (including sheet metal and complex assemblies) – would be advantageous.
• Experience in creating bills of materials and parts lists.
• Familiarity with engineering change control.
• Ability to develop concept designs from specifications, taking to full detailed design.
• Familiarity with HV systems and composites desirable.
• Knowledge of machine tools and manufacturing processes.
