Joinery Operations Manager

Salary: £48,000 – £60,000 per year

Working for this established bespoke commercial joinery manufactures, fit-out, supplier and installation business. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced Joinery Operations/Contracts Manager to influence direction and further grow the business. You will be based in their Manchester office but get involved in overseeing the works and high-quality commercial office fit outs, in Central London. The role will 80% office based in Manchester and 20% site based in London. You will get involved in all aspects of the business, from overseeing large and small projects and overseeing on-site contractors. Your duties will include: –

* Working with the team to estimate and costings of jobs where possible

* Overseeing a team of eight joiners, bench hand fitters, so this role will be 80% office based and 20% site based

* Working in the Manchester office but conducting regular London visits to oversee the high end, contemporary commercial work

* Review quotes & maximise the cost benefit against when producing working drawings.

* Conduct site surveys if required must be organized around any meetings and when the area is ready for measuring and templating if needed organize a separate visit for one of the fitters to do more detailed templates and measuring.

* Lead and manage all aspects of a bespoke manufacturing operation — providing structure and organisation to get the best out of a small, but highly skilled and experienced work force; improving and implementing modern manufacturing processes where appropriate; introducing controls; training and development plans; improving planning and efficiencies; Health & Safety.

* Project management of all projects – co-ordinating all elements of design briefs; reviewing quotations; order confirmation and production; project delivery and installation.

* Contracts management and cost control to ensure efficient delivery / installation of each project and achievement of targeted margins.

* Overseeing main contractors.

* Managing Work-ln-Progress across multiple projects.

* Site visits as appropriate to ensure that all projects are scoped out and delivered correctly.

* Oversee installations to ensure the correct utilisation of resources with additional responsibility for risk assessments and method statements.

* Setting up ongoing procedures to collect and review information needed to manage an organisation or ongoing activities within it.

* Establishing courses of action for self and others to ensure that work is completed efficiently.

* Managing all documentation including RAMS, health and safety and compliance documents

* Managing purchase orders and processing timesheets of contracted hours onto Sage

* Making clients and their needs a primary focus of one’s actions; developing and sustaining productive client relationships

* Allocating decision making authority and/or task responsibility to appropriate others to maximise the organisation’s and individual’s effectiveness

To apply you must have: –

* Joinery experience including commercial fit-out experience

* Office based experience

* Ideally project management experience

* Strong understanding and experience of projects and contracts management

* Must hold a full driving licence
