Cold Rolling Mill Operative, Rolling Mill Operator

A Cold Rolling Mill Operative, Rolling Mill Operator is required for a large steel company based in the Walsall area. Duties include running a cold rolling mill, operating pendant cranes and FLT’s to handle processed steel and coils in the warehouse. Position is a temp to perm contract working 39hrs per year fixed morning shifts of 6am – 2pm, with a 1pm finish on Fri. Rate of pay is £26,000per year.

Full duties include –

Setting and running a cold rolling mill to specification
First off, in process and final inspection of jobs using quality measuring equipment
Handling of steel coil and processed sections
Operating a pendant overhead crane with chain, sling and strap attachments
Driving a counterbalance FLT
Loading and unloading vehicles with stock

Applicants MUST have experience within the steel industry, setting and running cold rolling mills. Must also have experience using pendant cranes & FLT’s, licenses are advantageous but not essential.

12 Temp to Perm contracts available.

Working hours are 6am – 2pm Mon to Thurs, with a 1pm finish on Fri. Occasionally may get asked to work 2pm – 10:30pm afternoon shifts but would only be on rare occasions.

Rate of pay is £26,000per year, with overtime available after 39hrs per year at Time & 1/3 weekday, Time & 1/2 Saturday, Double time Sunday.
