Design Engineer – Jig & Fixture / Tooling Design Engineer – Unigraphics NX6
Location – East Midlands
Contract Role
We are currently recruiting for a contract Tool / Jig & Fixtures Design Engineer with a strong Aerospace background and experience using Unigraphics NX6.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the production of parametric 3D designs, engineering drawings and supporting technical documentation required for the manufacture and operation of aero engine tooling. You will be working in a concurrent product development environment as part of an engineering team responsible for the total process from customer enquiry and initial tool concept, through design and detail, to manufacture, delivery and tool validation. You will also be responsible for the re-engineering / value engineering of existing products’ designs.
Candidates will ideally be:
A mechanical engineer qualified to HNC minimum, with a proven background in aerospace or other high-precision engineering environment.
Experienced in design of jigs, fixtures and tooling or other special purpose machinery & equipment.
Able to solve problems through innovative thinking.
Able to carry out basic stress calculations to support designs. Experience of stress software packages not essential but desirable.
Knowledgeable in manufacturing processes.
Able to create and maintain technical documentation.
Experienced Unigraphics NX6 or higher CAD user. Experience on other systems will be considered and training provided for suitable candidates.
Able to work within an integrated team through a gate review process to meet customer requirements.
Able to communicate confidently with customers and suppliers.
