Design Engineer

Horizon Search & Selection Ltd is currently seeking a Design Engineer for our client based on the outskirts of Cambridge. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join an expanding company within the Roof Light and Structural Glazing Industry.
The purpose of this varied position is to Design Architectural glass contractions for a varying client base from small domestic to large commercial installations. Some Project Management duties may also be required. Our client is happy to consider applications from candidates at all levels for this role. As such, this role could suit an experienced Designer or a person looking to begin their career within this exciting arm of the building services industry.
Duties to include
• Producing detailed 2D designs and calculations
• Working closely with other team members and professionals in order to obtain information relevant to the project
• Uploading files to file-sharing systems
• Liaising with Design Sub-contractors and sourcing DWG’s from clients and architects
• Some Management of Projects
• Offering knowledgeable advice to clients as required
Skills and Attributes
• Ideally qualified to Degree level within a Design based subject
• Experience of using 2D AutoCAD – ideally Autodesk, AutoCAD LT 2015)
• The ability to work autonomously and successfully meet deadlines
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
• Some understanding of construction methods could also be very helpful
• The ability to visualise in 3 dimensions is also highly desirable
