Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary: £48,000 – £54,000 per year

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join my client who are a leading manufacturer of automation turn key solutions. Their ideal candidate will have previous and proven mechanical design experience of automation equipment using 3D design software.

Mechanical Design Engineer role:
My clients successful Mechanical Design Engineer will be office based and work closely with internal and external engineering teams, report to the Engineering Manager and be responsible for designing automation and robotic integrated turn key solutions. The responsibilities also include:

* Concept and detailed design of Automation Equipment using 3D modelling and software

* Design calculations and verification

* Liaising with customers, oversee design review meetings, specifying components

* Management of sub-contractors when needed, commissioning support

* Support and mentor junior staff members

* site visits for surveys and customer meetings as well as internal project meetings

* Proactive continuous improvement of products

* Support and work closely with the electrical and control teams in relation to design and technical guidance.

Mechanical Design Engineer requirements:

* Educated to a relevant Mechanical related qualification

* Proven mechanical design experience of industrial equipment related automated machinery

* Develop fully functional concepts and develop into a fully functional design for production

* Find design solutions to engineering problems to resolve customers requirements within given budgets

* 3D CAD experience – Autodesk Inventor ideally

* Manufacturing processes such as CNC milling, welding and fabrication, assembly

* Gantt charts

* Understanding of geometric tolerances
