We are actively searching for an experienced construction estimator on behalf of a growing contractor based in the Ipswich area. The role has come about due to organic growth. They are looking for a driven and enthusiastic individual to join their team as an ‘Estimator’ estimating newbuild and refurbishment projects with various sectors including Education, Commercial, Residential, Healthcare. Project sizes range from £250K to £1.5 million. The successful candidate will be joining a rapidly growing company with the opportunity to progress your career.

ROLE:

• Preparing, negotiating and analysing costs for tenders and contracts
• Analysing plans and bills of quantities
• Carrying out detailed take offs from construction drawings
• Researching, sourcing, negotiating and obtaining the best prices for quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
• Assessing the financial, technical and operational risks of the project
• Vetting out and building a pool of subcontractors
• Working closely with key members of the senior management team
• Visiting site when required to gather information
• Keeping detailed records and written reports
• Preparing and submitting quotations

CANDIDATE:

• Must have a solid knowledge and understanding of construction methods, HSE building regulations and legal guidelines
• Must have excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Must be methodical in approach
• Must be a proficient I.T. user to include MS Excel, Word and Outlook
• Must have Full UK Driving Licence due to site travel
• Must have 3 years previous estimating experience or equivalent recognised qualification in a construction related discipline.
