Stock Controller

£42,000.00 – £40,000.00 Per Annum

(Negotiable)

Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm – 30 minutes for lunch

Our client, based in West Sussex, has been trading for over 60 years and are experts in their field of business. They supply British grown timber to customers across the UK, in many shapes and forms, for both domestic and commercial use. They offer services such as ‘cut to size’ and have a wide variety of wood to choose from, up to 16 species. They are also experts in Forestry and are proud, established members of the Chartered Institute of Forestry and work with many Charities and Woodland owners; they are one of the leading Forestry Consultants in the South of England.

The Person:

Ideally you will come from a timber background but we appreciate that there will be many of you with a solid background in Stock Control with transferable skills and who are happy and willing to learn, and therefore we welcome those of you with a good eye for detail and knowledge-retention skills to apply; seasonal and outdoor stock management/storage would also be a distinct advantage, as would an FLT License.

The Role:

As Stock Controller you will be responsible for ensuring that all stock on-hand is accurately represented in description, location and financial value on the ‘Galaxy’ system – This is Inventory Software they use in-house.

  • Control and monitor all Galaxy stock transactions to ensure that stock in processes is carried out accurately
  • Investigate stock adjustment queries and resolve stock adjustment related discrepancies
  • Carryout/coordinate the perpetual stock counts to validate daily processes and report on the variances and causes/reasons for any variances
  • Report weekly the stock movement by category using Galaxy reports
  • Report monthly stock values
  • Book into stock every boule, pack or beam that arrives from Created Purchase orders
  • Complete each stock record accurately in each field, especially location
  • Check the measure that what has been bought tallies with the physical stock and moisture content is correct on AD or KD timber
  • Carry out and control the transform process of boule to board, taking pictures as required to complete the stock record and allow online representation. Ensure that board volume match overall boule volume
  • Review pricing with Sales team of each board to maximise opportunity for value increase
  • Work with the sales team to select boards for Hillgrove selection and develop with Marketing how to improve the online representation of stock
  • Plan with Operations Director the arrival and dynamic location of stock ensuring that all staff can, with certainty, go to a location and find the stock item
  • Control and maintain the returns procedure and ensure all returns are processed into stock where required
  • Accurate identification of timber being selected on measure pads
  • Control of the stock rotation and condensing of packs process
  • Assist in loading/unloading of vehicles and areas of the whole operation to cover staff holidays

Additional Info:

  • Holidays 20 days annual on accrual – 5 days of these will be needed for Xmas shutdown
  • Benefits – 3% contribution to company pension
