Job Profile

As the successful Toolmaker you will be responsible for ensuring mould and press tools are correctly dismantled, maintained or repaired, cleaned and reassembled. You will be reporting directly to the Assistant Tool Room Manager working alongside a team of other skilled Toolmakers.

Duties

* Maintaining and repair mould and press tools

* Working with manual machines such as Colchester Lathes, Bridgeport Mills and Jones and Shipment Grinding machines

* EDM skills would be an advantage

* Carry out fault diagnosis of collet moulds and press tools in line with tool service history card

* Arrange and plan workload to comply and meet production requirements as instructed by supervisor/manager

* Check and inspect own workload prior to passing on to the next stage of tool manufacture

* Manufacture all work using current issue drawings

* Update drawings in line with managers’ approval concerning tolerance dimensions

* Work within current Abrasive Wheels Regulations certificate guidelines

* Liaise with colleagues and management to assist in the smooth running of the department

Skills & Experience

* Toolmaking / Engineering apprenticeship or time served

* Experience of manual milling, turning and grinding

* Ideally experience of EDM machines

* Able to read and interpret engineering drawings
