Market Operations Manager

Salary: £300 per day

To manage and develop St Albans Markets Service to deliver safe and successful markets which contribute to the tourism and economic well-being of the city and district. This includes taking a key role in continuously developing the markets strategy.

1. Responsible for the day to day management of all markets operated by St Albans City and District Council. Leading on all market related matters at a managerial level and giving expert advice to all stakeholders, including relevant policy matters.

1. Responsible for ensuring that all markets are operated as safely as possible and in accordance with all relevant legislation. This includes ensuring that all risk assessments and safety checks are undertaken by the Market team as required and accurately documented. Following up with any remedial actions when necessary.

1. Responsible for running the market operations as a commercial undertaking. This will mean understanding all financial aspects and proactively taking actions to maximise income and reduce costs where possible. Looking to expand operations where appropriate, with a full understanding of possible risks, benefits, cost implications as well as producing realistic revenue projections.

1. Responsible for effectively communicating and enforcing all market rules in a prompt and fair way to all relevant stakeholders. This will make sure that all stakeholders understand their obligations and appropriate enforcement action is taken in respect of those who don’t comply.

1. Responsible for ensuring all our markets are promoted and marketed properly to ensure that we maximise the number of potential customers. This will involve working collaboratively with colleagues to produce effective communications.
