Communications and Campaigns Manager (PR / Press Officer)
The Chartered Institute for Library and Information Professionals is the leading body representing the information professions.
Position: Communications and Campaigns Manager
Location: Central London
Salary: £34,800 – £42,000pa
ROLE:
As a Communications and Campaigns Manager you will need to work effectively with external stakeholders and colleagues.
You will also be committed and enthusiastic to deliver their communications, campaigns, awards and media activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Work with the Director of External Relations to deliver CILIP’s corporate communications strategy, media relations and campaigns.
b) Respond to media enquiries and make appropriate contacts internally to arrange interviews and prepare media responses.
c) Prepare and distribute media releases in a timely way and to develop media targets for contact.
d) Plan, develop and co-ordinate CILIP campaigns to target audiences working with colleagues across the organisation and external partners.
e) Develop campaigns to attract new members to CILIP, working with colleagues across the organisation.
f) Support CILIP’s UK officers, branches and groups with media relations and publicising of events and activities.
g) Advise colleagues on effective communications policy and dissemination of key messages.
h) Monitor mentions of CILIP in the media and use the information to develop strategy.
i) Support CILIP’s presence at a variety of external events and conferences and engage in promotional activity with external stakeholders. To co-ordinate the organisation, promotion and delivery of CILIP’s high profile awards.
j) Manage delegated budgets as required.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
a) Relevant degree or equivalent.
b) Experience of working with media and preparing press releases and media briefings.
c) Competence in Microsoft Office products Ability to use online databases.
d) Experience of planning and producing promotional materials.
e) Ability to plan, co-ordinate and deliver projects and events and manage publicity and public campaigns.
f) Experience of being the representative of an organisation with external bodies and able to present.
DESIRABLE SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
a) A basic understanding of the value purpose of a membership body and the value of the library sector.
You may have experience of the following: Communications and Campaigns Manager, Marketing Manager, Marcoms, PR, Public Relations, Marketing Campaign Manager, Copywriter, CIM Qualified, Email Marketing, Chartered Institute of Marketing, Press Officer, Marketing, Communications etc.
