Network – Data Centre Engineer

Job Summary Network Technician
We are looking for Network/Data Centre Technicians to work in field operations in various Data Centres, based in Amsterdam. To be suitable for the role, you must have prior experience of working in telecoms field environments installing, commissioning and operating transmission and data networks so a thorough knowledge of PDH / SDH and DWDM is required along with Cisco Knowledge to CCNA level.

Position is permanent and paying between 35000 Euro & 40000 Euro dependant on experience.

Job Description

This company install and support a range of manufacturer’s equipment for our customer’s networks, prior experience Ciena, Cisco and Juniper would be an advantage.

Principle responsibilities
* Equipment and infrastructure installation
* Fibre/Copper patching
* Cable/SDH/Ethernet testing (RFC2544)
* Liaise with internal departments to resolve customer affecting issues
* Provide 1st/2nd line support, liaising with the network and provisioning operation teams as required, checking and executing fault or provisioning management tasks
* Interpret system / service reports to determine root cause of incidents, escalating as required.
* This position is based from home
* Some travel within the Netherlands and other European countries may be required.
* Some out of hours cover is required on a scheduled basis.
Required Experience
* Cisco CCNA level with minimum 5 years’ experience working with data networking devices.
* Knowledge of optical transmission – PDH / SDH / DWDM.
* Good communication skills (English essential as many customers are in the UK & USA), ability to clearly articulate solutions to the customer and escalate as required.
*Flexible and able to work within a small team.
* Own transport and clean driving licence.
