Salary: £26,000 per year

Our client based in Peterborough is looking for an experienced stores person to run the stores department.

Responsible for the day to day running of the stores, associated processes and areas.
To receive, handle and despatch goods coming into, or going out of, stores and yard areas.
To maintain and control stock items within the company.
To ensure that all procedures are adhered to at all times.
To ensure the area is a safe working environment at all times. Ensure accuracy and attention to detail

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Ensure the safe unloading of received goods with the use of a fork lift truck where required and
check them against purchase order forms.
• Ensure the safe loading of finished goods and materials onto vehicles when required.
• Ensure that delivered goods are checked for damage and quality and booked onto the system in
a timely manner – measuring components and checking base dimensions to drawing where
required using provided measuring equipment (digital micro-meter / Vernier / steel rule etc).
• Label and mark up delivered items before placing in designated areas, on bins or on racks –
consumables are to be stored in a FIFO (first in first out) manner to ensure correct stock
rotation.
• Ensure all storage areas including material ‘Quarantine’ areas are controlled and managed at all
times.
• Enter details and location of received deliveries onto company software to ensure parts onsite are
known and available for use in a timely manner.
• Book out materials and consumables as required / requested on internal stock requisitions for
department supervisors, fabricators & welders, ensuring that internal stock levels are then
updated on the system in a timely manner to maintain accurate stock levels.
• Package and send out completed orders to customers.
• Complete stores area and container stock checks when required and advise purchasing about
any stock level issues and re-ordering requirements.
• Complete daily checks on Gas storage areas (Argon/Oxygen/Acetylene/Nitrogen) to ensure
adequate stock levels are continually maintained, advising purchasing of re-ordering
requirements as needed.
Occasional deliveries or collections from customers and suppliers when required.
• Help keep the stores and yard area clean and tidy.
• Assist Yardsman in managing the skips and waste management facilities onsite, ensuring that
materials are correctly disposed of in the appropriate manner to maximise recycling possibilities.
• Notify manager when skips require emptying.
• To unlock / lock up the yard containers and stores area daily.
• Communicate effectively and courteously with all internal personnel and external customers.
• Attend daily production meetings and planning meetings as and when deemed necessary.
• General hours of work to be from 07:00hrs – 17:00hrs – occasional earlier or later hours when
circumstances dictate.
• Other such duties as may be required from time to time.
