QC Lab Assistant

An exciting opportunity to join a prestigious manufacturing company has arisen close to Bury St Edmunds town centre. A QC Lab Assistant is required to join their team. The purpose of this role is to perform QC laboratory duties to support the QC departments as below.
Duties and Responsibilities to include:
• Performing classical analysis of flavour and fragrance raw materials originating from various departments and classical analysis of Essential oils and product specific tests
• Maintain chemical inventory for the QC laboratory and purchase items necessary for routine and non-routine analysis
• Liaising with other Technical Departments following group strategy in Chemical Purchasing
• Carry out regular calibration of the measuring instruments as prescribed within the working practices in the laboratory
• Prepare tasting solutions as part of QC and arrange for analysis to be carried out
• Perform organoleptic evaluation of products as necessary
• Ensure that laboratory is maintained appropriately
• Prepare reagents and standard for analysis
• Arrange for analytical samples to be sent for external analysis and collate the results
• General Laboratory housekeeping duties as required

Skills and Attributes:
• Ideally candidates will be educated to A Level standard within a scientific discipline
• Confident in handling numerical data
• Previous experience within a laboratory environment would be highly desirable
