The Company:
Part of an international and highly successful group, our client is a leading UK packaging manufacturer renowned for its innovative technical lidding film used across many segments of the food industry.
The Role:
Provide solutions to complex technical problems, within NPD strategy and business needs, in order to gain insight into new developments and contribute to the realisation of project objectives. Provide technical expertise in Formulation Science in order to contribute towards the success of NPD and process support projects which are complex and diverse. Deliver a range of technical know-how to provide carefully thought-through advice and expertise to a range of stakeholders across the organisation. The Senior Formulation Scientist is viewed as a specialist offering innovative solutions to the SRS business unit, contributing to new product development and improvement activities.
Person Profile:
· BSc degree or equivalent in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry or other relevant Science related subject.
· Significant demonstrated, technical expertise in polymer materials, formulation and web fed coating technology, as well as a compelling track record of complex technical problem solving.
· At least 3 to 5 years experience developing new products in the coatings and converting industry.
· Able to collaborate effectively with customers (internal and external), suppliers, regulatory agencies and other stakeholders when required.
· Understanding the requirements and operation of a product development stage gate process.
· Experienced at leading production trial process from laboratory into production scale up
· Operating knowledge of laboratory equipment for chemical and functional analysis relevant to paper and film coatings.
· Working knowledge and broad experience of IT packages, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
