Salary: £84,000 – £96,000 per year

Konnect are currently recruiting on behalf of a privately owned contractor based on the South Coast that specialise in the development of quality housing and retirment builds across the South. 

Due to continued growth they are currently recruiting for an experienced Planning Manager to join their established Planning Department. Candidates must have at least 5 years working within the Planning department for a contractor, local council or consultancy and must be based within an hour of Southampton. Due to the level of experience required the client have stated they would be looking to pay up to £84,000 – £96,000+ package.

The role will work with the wider team on new land acquisitions, planning applications and research as well as representing the company when necessary. You will manage your own projects in order that you successfully deliver the technical coordination and design management of both residential and care projects at planning application stage.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Viability/Feasibility Studies
  • Site assessments/visits
  • Assist with the appointment of external consultant teams and manage our design process via external consultants, chairing all Design related meetings
  • Assist in the managing of budgets
  • Assisting in the preparation of planning applications
  • Verify and control status of consultant’s drawings and specifications
  • Progress design issues within a timescale and ensure designers meet information delivery dates
  • Ensure the consultant scope of services, responsibilities are met
  • Co-ordinate technical, design and external client issues

The ideal candidate:

We require a candidate with excellent analytical, numerical, presentational, and interpersonal skills, who should be willing to take responsibility, build strong client relationships and demonstrate a real enthusiasm for the role. We expect candidates to be willing to learn as well as being able to share their experiences and knowledge and influence their peers and senior team.

You will have a true passion for development and design, be energetic and able to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. You will be able to influence and manage external consultants in a professional manner and be capable of working in collaboration with the wider team. You will show initiative to get things done, will actively manage your personal development, seek opportunities to progress and learn and share your experiences with your team.

You will have:

  • Previous experience in a design management role
  • Strong technical understanding
  • Commercial awareness
  • Be an innovative thinker and problem solver
  • The ability to develop, manage and maintain successful relationships, both internally and externally

Qualifications:

We would expect candidates to have a good degree, preferably in one of the following disciplines or similar –

  • Architecture
  • Engineering
  • Building Surveying
  • Property Development

However, we would be prepared to consider applicants without a degree with directly relevant experience.
