A great opportunity for an experienced Planning Manager within a manufacturing organisation has just become available. Due to the fast pace of the industry and the significant growth that they are currently experiencing you will need to be highly knowledgeable and experienced in your role as Planning Manager.
Job Description:
- In conjunction with the Sales team, using sales demand, materials, and labour availability, develops a 15-month rolling SIOP (Sales, Inventory, Operations Plan) for presentation at executive level
- Using reports and data maintains an accurate understanding of labour and material availability over the short, medium and long terms.
- From the SIOP plan, develops a weekly build plan for each production area at SKU level and maintains it in line with changing requirements
- Develops and maintains the Master Production Schedule (MPS) in the MRP system to drive purchasing requirements.
- Generates long-range forecasts for commodities not covered by the MPS / MRP such as Engines and gearboxes and provides them to the purchasing team or the supplier.
- Works with the Operations Director to develop medium and long-term capacity planning
- Is responsible for developing and maintaining a factory capacity plan that can be used by production on a daily basis.
- Conducts ‘What If’ scenarios around shortages or new product requirements
- Updates the monthly schedule attainment report and generates factory performance and complete KPIs.
- Advises the NPI team when products can be introduced or phased out, during the Phase in phase out meetings, given resource constraints or cost of material obsolescence.
- Supports the Production and Supply Chain teams with product knowledge when making complex decisions.
Education / Qualifications / Experience:
The following qualifications and experience are essential:
- Worked as a planner in a manufacturing or FMCG business with at least a £15m turnover, planning at least 4 productions areas.
- Been in a planning role for at least 3 consecutive years
- Has excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Has excellent skills using and developing complex spreadsheets.
- Is used to working at all levels within a business from Managing Director level to Team Leader level.
- Is used to supporting other teams with product knowledge.
- Uses data on a regular basis to formulate complex detailed plans
- Is used to multi-tasking to a high degree and solving problems
- Experience of providing reports to Senior Management
- Is a self-starter, used to working on their own initiative and managing their own work.
- Has a high degree of experience in using MRP systems including using Bills of materials and materials transaction histories?
