We are now seeking to recruit a Territory Sales Manager to cover Leicestershire/ Northamptonshire /Bedfordshire /Cambridgeshire /Norfolk /Suffolk
Where the candidate lives within this region is not essential.
The role is split between telephone and face to face sales.
You will have the ability and confidence to communicate with a diverse range of prospects and members across all market segments possessing the self-motivation and an ability to work on your own initiative and demonstrate empathy for the issues our members and potential members face.
The CLA (Country Land and Business Association) campaigns for a thriving countryside on behalf of 27,000 members and is the authoritative voice of rural land, property and business in England and Wales. We are a pro-active and forward thinking membership-based organisation with a team of around 115 employees and offices located throughout England and Wales, including London.

The CLA exists to champion, protect and enhance the rural economy, environment and way of life.
Summary of Responsibilities
To grow CLA member subscription income by selling all categories of CLA membership and to actively participate in retention activity within a designated territory. In addition to promote or sell other CLA approved products and services and to represent the interests of the CLA within the designated territory.
Lead Generation
- Identify suspects and qualify to develop a prospect list
- Manage and maintain an accurate prospect list using the CLA contact manager database and other systems as agreed with line manager
- Ensure that sufficient prospects are developed to deliver new member sales target.
- Follow up leads from national and regional marketing activity.
- Work with Branch members to identify potential prospects.
- Attend both CLA and third party events and network to identify new prospects.
Achieve Annual Financial Targets
- Sell all categories of CLA membership within geographic area agreed with line manager
- Achieve or exceed agreed subscription income target
- Ensure all data is accurately collected, entered and maintained on contact manager
- Follow Association administration procedures relating to recruitment and retention activity
- Attend branch committee meetings and report on sales and retention matters
- Provide information as requested on news sales and membership renewals
Retain Members
- Follow up lapsed members
- Identify at risk members and prioritise making of retention calls and visits to these members to ensure they are making the best use of and therefore gaining the full benefit of their CLA membership
- Use the opportunity to meet members at both CLA and third party events and discuss whether they are making full use of their membership
Product Knowledge
- Keep up to date with current issues affecting CLA members and how CLA work on the subject will benefit prospects
- Develop and maintain a full understanding of all CLA membership products
- Develop and maintain a knowledge of all CLA market segments
- Develop and maintain a full understanding of all CLA membership services
Salary and Benefits
