Laboratory Technician

Laboratory Technician, 4 months initial contract with a possible permanent position

My client is a manufacturer of high quality standard and specialised road marking products for the Highways sector. They are looking for laboratory technician that could undertake the following:

Responsibilities:

• QC testing of production samples and key raw materials
• Assist with calibration of equipment
• Assist with customer complaint investigations
• Assist with evaluations of alternative raw materials
• Assist with product improvement
• Assist with product development
• General good house-keeping and tidying of the laboratory

Person:

• An interest in materials science
• Ideally educated to ‘A’ level or equivalent standard in science subjects e.g. chemistry and physics
• Ideally some laboratory experience within a materials science discipline
• Creative and flexible approach but must be organised with good analytical skills
• Capable of working on own initiative as well as part of a team
• Good verbal and written communication skills are a must

General:

• Initially position is offered on a temporary contract
• Potential for position being made permanent for the right candidate
• Extensive on-the-job training as well as external training as required
• Good prospects within the Department
