Principal Accountant

Salary: £26,000 – £30,000 per year

This position will involve providing an efficient, effective and comprehensive accountancy and financial management service to our client.

THE ROLE
* Deputising for the Finance Manager as required
* Responsible for the supervision and coordination of preparation of budget estimates, budgetary control, financial reporting, briefings, projections, returns and claims
* The compilation and publication of financial accounts
* Operation of the treasury management functions
* Liaison with bankers and borrowing and investments teams
* Supervise and where necessary carry out the financial administration of charities, including the preparation of accounts and deal with financial matters relating to partnerships with external organisations.
* Supporting the Team Manager with training new members of staff in relation to using relevant software and departmental procedures
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Applicants should have the following:
* A relevant accountancy qualification from a CCAB recognised body, preferably CIPFA
* Knowledge of accounting principles and practices and of financial processes and procedures
* The ability to analyse data and complex issues and possess problem solving and negotiation skills
* Substantial practical experience of working within an accountancy environment and be familiar with computerised financial information systems, particularly general ledger
* The ability to use Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel is essential
