Vp Java / Scala Developer

Hays are working with one of the largest financial service providers to recruit a VP, Java/Scala Developer to join their Global Markets Reference Data Technology group teams based in London. You will be responsible to support a business-critical reference data system, which is responsible for maintaining product reference data sets for Equity trading business.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a number of exciting, cutting edge technologies such as Scala, RDF Graph databases and to grow as a technologist within a wider technology group.

As a VP, Java/Scala Developer your main responsibilities will involve:
* You will be responsible for delivering against the roadmap of changes for ETD Hub product
* You will be adding new features to the product, enhancing functionality of existing features and re-factoring certain functions to meet the target state architecture
* I addition, you will be providing second and third level support for the product with an SLA of 24×7 availability
* You will also be expected to gain an understanding of the business data domain and perform analysis when necessary

You will be required to troubleshoot database performance issues and tune applications as well as databases

As a Java/Scala Developer your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
Core Java
Previous experience with Scala
Oracle: including SQL*Plus, PL/SQL packages and procedures, views and materialized views, and table design
Previous experience working within the financial sector and good knowledge of equities
