Technical/Quality Team Manager – Blue-chip food manufacturing
Location: Cheshire
Salary: 30 – 38,000 per annum plus excellent benefits

The role:
This position is responsible for supporting the Technical Manager to ensure the overall functions of the Quality Assurance Department are monitored, measured and improved; ensuring that product and process are correctly defined and documented for the factory and are available at the appropriate Control Points.
Deliver technical training when required;
Use microbiology knowledge and utilise it during various processes
Support the Technical Manager in implementing the factory’s Quality Policy.
Coach and mentor a team of QA’s and technicians, facilitating improvements in quality standards whilst encouraging an environment open to ideas and suggestions.
Ensure all designated procedures and practices are in place and updated and that systems of work are safe within the factory.
Contribute to the provision of effective development of all staff within the department, identifying development needs, monitoring development delivery and assessing individuals against targets and objectives.
This includes accountability for monitoring and ensuring a high standard of food processing sanitation at the pre-operational and operational stages of production.
Complete regular quality system and line audits of production and QA procedures to verify product and process conformance at all stages from raw materials to despatch.
Work with the Technical Manager to monitor and investigate KPIs, including supplier, consumer, environmental and quality issue costs etc.
Create improvement for the quality function.
Provide input to new product development and process introduction, integrating these developments into the HACCP and QMS system.
Review quality incidents using route cause analysis ensuring the introduction and maintenance of corrective and preventative actions.
Deputise for the Technical Manager in their absence from site.
Be involved in external audits and visits when necessary and complete traceability exercises.
Maintain a safe working environment and promote safe culture across the site.
Deliver technical training as advised
The person:
Degree educated, or equivalent, preferably science and microbiology, food-based or a related field.
Ideally have chilled short shelf life experience.
High risk knowledge/experience
Thermal processing knowledge/experience

Prior Technical / QA management of food safety and quality programs.
