Skill Set: Agile environment, managing people across Technical Architecture – Consultative approach

Location: London

Rate: £720 – £840 per day

The role

* Joining a small team of 4 in providing consulting services to Government departments. Looking for a Senior Technical Architect with a consultative approach.
* To provide guidance on how to apply central standards i.e. user needs/cloud first.
* Following Technical guidelines published.
* Working with spend control team who assess requests for approval to spend on technology. Provide advice on products that are being bought in.
* Work with project teams to steer them in correct directions. Sites all over UK, so travelling to project teams at times will be required.

Essential Skills and Experience

* Experience of influencing senior management and communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences
* Experience mentoring and leading technical teams to deliver scalable and secure user-focused Services awareness and understanding of a range of tech stacks and the ability to take a balanced approach to technology selection
* Ability to drive through an agenda understanding of how to prioritise work in a fast, customer centric, environment
* Ability to see opportunities for improvement and an interest in forming government best practices, standards and policies
* Experience migrating legacy technology, eg. applying data migration strategies, migrating hosting to a cloud service provider, or incrementally replacing a legacy system.
* Ability to read and understand solution design documentation understanding of agile environments, continual delivery techniques and devops cultures
* Experience of Agile environment.
* Experience managing people.
* Experience in selecting technologies and establishing roadmaps. Generic background across Technical Architecture – would suit Senior Technical Architect professional.
* Must Good soft skills (Consultative approach, good communication at all levels, allow people to solve own problems).

Desirable: Some software development experience during career would be highly advantageous.

The successful candidate must either hold current SC (Security Clearance) or be willing to undergo security vetting in order to obtain the level required.
