SQL Database Administrator (DBA)

SQL Database Administrator (DBA) – Southampton, Hampshire – £23k

SQL DBA required to join my client, a leading software house based in Southampton, Hampshire. You will have a knowledge of MSSQL databases (Ideally up to 2012) including installing and defining SQL Server, routine maintenance and administrative tasks.

You will be responsible for:-
Defining and monitoring of daily backup procedures
Monitoring of disk usage and capacity
Monitoring of Server Loading and resouce availability
Routine restore from backup
Database profiling for performance monitoring / tuning purposes
Understanding the various licensing options of MS SQL Products
Installation of critical security and software updates
Performing upgrades and applying service packs
Advise and quote customers on server specifications

You will also be required to complete some system administrations tasks including: –
Networking
Domain Administration
Configuratoin and management of virtual server arrays
Storage arrays
Firewalls
Avaya Telephone systems
Exchange Server
Blackberry Server
Configuratoin and maintenance of PC’s, Laptops and other mobile devices

From time to time this role will require out of hours work and occasionally travel to customer sites across the UK.
