Our client is the UK’s 6th largest building society with 53 branches and 18 agencies across Wales and the Borders. They are a mutual building society, founded in 1860. Being a mutual means that they are owned by and run for the benefit of the 500,000 Members – the savers and borrowers. Their key priority is to keep the Members’ money safe – and their consistently good financial performance reflects this.

The Society is looking to further develop its IT Architecture and Solution Design capability. The Solution Architect will work with business and technology teams to understand requirements and provide full end-to-end technical solutions. The postholder will be expected to produce and communicate appropriate artefacts that represent the solution components and how they integrate and operate with our wider estate. The solutions will need to comply with the Societies standards and ensure that all ongoing operational considerations are addressed.

The postholder will be required to undertake the definition and documentation of designs to agreed standards that clearly articulate the solution to all involved parties. Work with delivery teams to ensure that solutions are agreed, meet business requirements and are fully supportable by operational teams. It will be necessary to apply governance to designs throughout the project lifecycle to ensure consistency and standards adherence.

The successful applicant will have demonstrable experience of working in a similar role or as a system integrator in a multi-technology environment. Extensive experience of working on complex technical projects together with extensive knowledge and experience of the disciplines used in the creation of solution designs and their standards and governance. A solid understanding of different technologies, including mainframe, wintel, web, infrastructure and B2B services as well as integration, migration and transformational techniques is essential.
