Equal Pay Team Duties

Contract role – start ASAP to September then rolling thereafter

• To support directly and indirectly the Head of Law and Equal Pay Senior Lawyer;

• To advise Council officers on equal pay risks and liabilities;

• To prepare reports and papers on equal pay risks and issues within the organisation, to include data analysis;

• To assist in defending a large group action for equal pay, to include obtaining witness statements, attending hearings in the Employment Tribunal, and liaising with counsel, job analysts and the claimants’ legal representatives;

• To assist in implementing a largescale settlement scheme, to include assisting in the processing of data, calculating offers, preparing offer documentation, signing settlement agreements, and attending signing days;

• To assist in responding to requests for information under the FOIA and to subject access requests under the GDPR;

• To deal with equal pay queries from employees, their legal representatives and trade unions;

• To deal with correspondence, documentation and communications relating to existing and past equal pay claims; and

• To assist in the provision of equal pay indemnities and advice where there is a transfer of an undertaking under the TUPE regulations.

Experience

• Experience of equal pay law and of dealing with equal pay claims as a respondent is essential;

• Experience of privacy and information law is desirable;

• Experience of the law relating to the transfer of undertakings is desirable;

• Experience of working in a local authority is desirable;

• Experience of MS Excel and MS Access is essential;

• Experience of data processing and data analysis is essential; and

• Experience of SAP software is desirable.
