Senior Network Specialist

Senior Network Specialist required for a global engineering consultancy, based in Botley, Southampton. You will be monitoring and maintaining the Network Infrastructure working with Cisco technologies. Ideally you will be CCNP certified.

As Senior Network Specialist, your key responsibilities will be in monitoring and maintaining the network infrastructure, predominantly working with Cisco technologies. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your career further within networking as you will also be involved in network design, working closely with Technical Architects.

This position will require you to be on call, although there is an additional allowance for this. You must also be flexible, as may be required to travel to other sites on occasion.

This role will also require you to be either currently Security Cleared (SC) or be able to go through this clearance.

As Senior Network Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

* Fault management and rectification across the infrastructure to agreed SLA’s / KPI’s.
* Monitoring and maintenance of Core Data Centre networks.
* Monitoring of WAN and managing site installations of LAN and Firewalls.
* Monitoring and maintaining the VOIP telephony installations.
* Maintenance and development of Wireless.
* Operate a centralised Enterprise Systems Management capability.
* Liaising with 3rd parties to perform operational maintenance.
* Supporting of technical architects in network design.
* Production of operational and technical documentation.

As Senior Network Specialist, you will have the following:

* Cisco equipment (Switches / Routers / Firewall).
* Strong knowledge of networking from maintenance to design (WAN / LAN / Firewalls / Switch / Router / VOIP).
* Cisco CCNP certified or working towards certification.
* SC or be able to go through Security Clearance.

It is also desirable to have the following:

* Checkpoint knowledge (CCSE or equivalent).
* Palo Alto.
* HP Procurve.
* Cisco CCNA Voice / CCVP.
