Overview
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Senior IT Support Engineer to join an internationally recognised aerospace/aerodynamics research facility based in Bedford.
The successful Senior IT Support Engineer will be responsible for the support and development of the in-house IT systems. The environment consists of around 40 physics & virtual networked servers running a mixture of Windows (2008/2012 server) and Linux (CentOS/Red Hat) including a small high performance cluster (Rocks). These high-end systems support the internal design and manufacture of high precision wind tunnel models and computation aerodynamics.
In total, the Senior IT Support Engineer will be supporting around 150 desktops & 30 laptops running Windows 7 and CentOS Linux OS, plus other bespoke data applications.
This is an excellent chance for a Senior IT Support Engineer to join a high profile international business with leading IT technology.
Requirements
• Experience supporting a medium sized customer base (100+ users)
• Strong knowledge of Windows 7 and CentOS OS
• Data storage experience (EMC VNX & Dell PowerVault SANs)
• Sound knowledge of appropriate security measures – Firewalls and Antivirus etc
• Ability to support both virtual and physics networked servers (Windows 2008/12 & Linux Red Hat/CentOS)
• Knowledge of Rocks (HPC) is beneficial
• Ability to gain UK SC clearance
• Excellent communication skills
