Senior Import Merchandiser

The Company:
A fantastic opportunity for Senior Import Merchandiser to join a leading supplier to various UK high street retailers.

The Role:
Attend customer meetings on a regular and pro-active basis, discuss details of their requirements, suggest new developments to grow the business and strengthen the established working relationship with the customer.
Ensure the smooth of progression of styles through the sampling and bulk critical paths.
Calculate costings and margins and lead times for new orders to obtain Director sign off.
Monitor weekly sales reports, updating sales and design of best sellers, offer repeat orders to customer.
Work to agreed sales targets.
Accountable for the accuracy of delivery information held within customer systems and critical paths.
Gain an in depth understanding of the product, when possible attend fit meetings, review QC figures.
Responsible for the on time delivery of samples and to ensure samples are made to correct design brief, correct fit, quality, wash and construction.
Liaise with factories and suppliers on a daily basis.
Carry out regular reviews of factory foreseeing any capacity issues and proactively offering solutions and reporting issues to MD.
Provide instructions to suppliers on any airfreights and where applicable ensure compensation is agreed.
Record awareness of suppliers weakness and strengths.
Approve pre-shipment advice.
Raise purchase orders accurately within the agreed deadline, checking all orders for accuracy of information.
Organise lab dips both submission and approval and arrange fabric testing to customer requirements.
Reporting information to MD and attend meetings to identify any delivery issues that need to be reported to the business.
Alerting the accounts team to any short or faulty shipments and confirm what action has been agreed with suppliers.
Maintain accurate record keeping of Customer CPR’s and Distribution Warehouse charges.
Manage the work load, quality of work and day to day duties of Assistant Merchandisers, Administration Assistants, taking responsibility for their performance, conduct and productivity.
Support the Key Account Manager and develop the ability to make key decisions in his absence.

Skills Required:
Extensive knowledge of critical paths is needed.
Understanding of fabric construction, stitching construction and wash processes.
Cost sheets and approving supplier cost prices.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Attention to detail.
Raising of purchase orders.
Working knowledge of import procedures working for a busy supplier.
