Salary: £24 per hour

Senior Estimator – Private & Public Sectors – Building – Kent
My client is a well established plc, who are actively seeking a Senior Estimator to join their growing bid team, estimating projects up to £20M within their Build work stream.
As Senior Estimator, you will be tasked with handling initial enquiry documents that will form part of the Group’s Bid Team and ensures the right technical and commercial offer is brought together into a winning proposal within often tight deadlines.
As Senior Estimator you should have previous experience in an estimating role within a medium to large business in the construction sector. You should have technical knowledge of construction, be efficient, able to meet deadlines and work well as part of a team with the objective of securing profitable future workload for the business.
Duties Include:
* Managing a small team of Estimator, Trainee Estimator plus Admin.
* Appraisal of tender documents.
* Preparation of material and sub-contract enquiries, including selection of prospective subcontractors.
* Attending strategy/opportunity meetings with project team.
* Track tender opportunities and manage workload.
* Visit site to identify site specific risks.
* Contribute to the design development process and attend design team meetings.
* Preparing tender Bills of Quantities, Preparation of analytical cost estimates including preliminaries, Prepare budgets and cost plans, Prepare tenders on 1st principles basis, Prepare benchmarking against other tender submissions / actual project costs in association with Senior QS.
* Adjudication and comparison of sub-contractor quotations.
* Initiate technical queries and ensure design sufficiently developed to ensure accurate costings.
* Input into Strategy Programme and Long Lead Items for Procurement Schedule.
* Preparation of Contractors Proposals with Business Development and Design Teams.
* Value engineering throughout the design phase of design and build projects.
* Presentation of the tender to senior management at tender settlement meetings including the highlighting major commercial issues.
* Completion of tender documentation and submission of the tender.
* Ensure a smooth handover of the project to the site team.
* Communicate with the supply chain the outcome of tenders and relevant information to allow them to improve their next bid..
Salary & Package:
* £24base salary
* 24 days holiday + 8 Bank Holidays
* 40-hour week. Monday – Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm (-1hr lunch).
* Agile working arrangement (home/office).
* Working as part of a PLC – Share Incentive Plan/SAYE (subject to eligibility)
* Annual Pay Review – linked to formal appraisals, KPI’s/Objective led
* CPD – incl. relevant professional qualification or other training.
Knowledge & Education:
* Appropriate Construction related – HND/Degree or similar (essential).
* Competent use of Microsoft packages e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook (essential).
* Extensive experience of analytical building estimating in all sectors but to include industrial, commercial, education and health, on projects ranging from £100k to £20 million (essential).
* All forms of contract including traditional, partnering, design & build 2 stage tenders and frameworks (essential).
