SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION
Salary: £60,000 – £120,000per annum (negotiable depending on experience)
JOB SUMMARY
Our client is looking for 3 experienced Senior Project Managers (London, Birmingham & Manchester) to develop and oversee the construction commitments of this growing national business. Project Managers are expected to manage multiple on-site operations with direct responsibility for managing budgets, trades, materials, health and safety and performance.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Management – It is the responsibility of the Senior Project Manager to provide a complete and costed build programme from tendering to practical completion. This means producing a critical path analysis and understanding the timing of each stage and the role of stakeholders. The Senior Project Manager will be expected to present the build programme and updates to the senior management team.
Health and Safety – The Senior Project Manager is responsible for ensuring that sites operate safely and are fully compliant with HSE regulations.
Contract Management – The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for managing contracts and ensuring that contractual conditions are met. Contract management work will include all aspects of procuring and managing the supply chain including acting as point of contact between the company and contracted parties. It is expected that the post holder will have excellent knowledge of a range of construction contracts including JCT and NEC standard forms.
Budget Management – The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the financial planning and monitoring of the build programme. To avoid going over budget the Senior Project Manager should consider continually forecasting, keeping the team informed of forecasts and changes and managing the scope meticulously, so knowing the costs for unplanned construction work or resources and keeping that set aside.
Setting Benchmarks – The Senior Project Manager will work with the Operations Director to set performance benchmarks to monitor progress. All projects should finish on time and within budget and the post holder will be expected to understand and be able to implement risk management techniques.
Communication – The Senior Project Manager will form part of the senior management team and will be expected to present performance reports to the Board as may be required. As such the post holder is expected to have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Other duties – The Senior Project Manager will be expected to undertake other duties commensurate with the grade as required.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Professional membership – Full membership of RICS, CIOB or equivalent. Essential
Education – A construction or engineering degree or a degree in a related subject or equivalent. Essential
Experience – At least five years experience as a Senior Project Manager essential
Planning and Time Management – A proven track record with at least 5 years experience of delivering projects to agreed deadlines.
Essential Resource Management – Experience of understanding construction methods and ensuring that equipment is operated safely and available when needed on site.
Essential Risk Management – a proven ability to identify and communicate project risks and put in place methods to track and manage them.
Essential Financial and Budget Management – A proven track record of delivering projects to agreed budgets.
Essential Communication – Experience of arranging meetings with minutes and ensuring that all stakeholders are aware of the project’s progress and actions.
Essential Leadership and Motivation – Responsible for ensuring that tasks are delegated effectively and staff remain motivated to complete the project to a high standard.
Essential General Construction – Knowledge of the current UK construction market and the ability to support the business through growth into new markets or adoption of new construction techniques.
Essential Self-development – Evidence of independent self-development. Essential
Full UK driving license holder
Essential I.T. – Ability to operate project management software, excel, word, PDF, and emails
