Unknown Recruitment is seeking a Senior Battery Management Systems Engineer to join our Battery Technology client’s team on a permanent basis. This is a new position in the expanding Battery Systems team. Reporting to the Battery Systems Manager, this is an interesting, varied role where you will be involved in the development of a wide range of battery systems for applications including automotive, aviation and aerospace, marine and defence.
You will be working with a number of development and integration partners to deliver the complete battery systems and grow in-house capability for development of proof of concept batteries. The company encourages original thinking to produce innovative solutions for developing the technology further.
We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic, results driven engineer with experience of both controls and software and strong product development background to take on a technical ownership of a project, ensuring the successful delivery of the required output with minimum supervision through employment of appropriate engineering design framework and process.
Senior Battery Management Systems Engineer responsibilities:
Technical Lead within a Project
Design and development of Battery Management System (BMS) embedded software
Development of the BMS strategy in line with business needs
Model-based development of State of Charge, State of Health, State of Function algorithms
Validation using appropriate software and hardware platform
Conduct FMEA and Safety analysis
Liaising with academic and external organisations in support of delivery
Act as a main technical point of contact for customer interaction
Writing documentation
Implementing safe systems of work
Senior Battery Management Systems Engineer Requirements:
Essential:
Battery management systems or comparable complex safety critical system
Experience in Kalman Filtering and Neural Networks
Experience in parameter estimation techniques
Battery modelling and simulation
Model-based control software development using Matlab/Simulink
Autocode generation with Embedded Coder
Software validation using model/software/hardware in the loop
Experience in real-time embedded C software implementation
Programming to MISRA C:2012 standard
Good understanding of system engineering principles (V-cycle)
Able to conduct FMEA and safety analysis
Good communication and interpersonal skills with strong influencing and engagement skills
Good appreciation of health and safety in an engineering environment
Highly disciplined, analytical and well organised
Advantageous:
Working with high voltage and high energy systems
Product development or research experience in battery system design
Operation of battery chemistry (Lithium-Sulphur or Lithium-Ion)
Understanding of software quality (ASPICE) and functional safety ISO26262 processes
Experience with Keil and the STM32 embedded software toolchain
PRINCE2 Project management (Foundation or Practitioner)
Measurement and Calibration with CANape and CANalyzer
The successful applicant is likely to have a degree in Control or Software Engineering or similar and at least 5 years’ experience in a product development environment.
