Sales Manager – International – Far East

A successful well established defence engineering company has a new and exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and driven Sales Manager. The role will be UK based with frequent travel to the Far East. Relocation to move within the UK to be a commutable distance to my client`s facilities would be offered.

The company operates within the defence electronics sector. It is financially strong, offering a small flexible and dynamic environment which embraces ownership and creative thinking. Many benefits of a large organisation but operating as a standalone, flat structured P&L SME.
Within the Far East the company has a well-established installed base of equipment and systems. You will be responsible for delivering short term forecasted order intake whilst in parallel growing existing markets for the medium and longer term opportunities. Future requirements will bridge across new programmes, system upgrades and through life support packages. Your customers will be government agencies, prime contractors and technology partnerships.
You will be expected to quickly grasp the company`s historical trading background within the region; then validate, build, develop and execute sales opportunities.
It is important that you have a track record of selling or running programmes within the Asia Pacific region. A knowledge of military electronics systems coupled with a track record of selling into International Governments is a mandatory requirement.
To succeed you will have a wide level of experience to quickly grasp all aspects of regional business capture, covering, technical, commercial and financial. You will also be comfortable oscillating between tactical and strategic initiatives to take a total ownership for your region
Reporting to the Business Development Director with daily interaction with the Managing Director, you will be office based when not traveling on business.
It is envisaged that you can expect to spend 25% -35% of your time on international travel.
As a Sales Manager your duties will include:
• Own and deliver order intake against agreed targets;
• Operate skilfully between the internal stakeholders and the customer community;
• Account management, sales forecasting, bidding and tender leadership.

The ideal Sales Manager will have the following skills and experience:
• Experience in an sales, business development and/or programme management position within a customer facing environment;
• A business qualification, HNC or degree;
• Fully conversant with MS packages;

NB: Due to stringent security restrictions of this UK based Defence Company, you must have lived in the UK for the last 10 years to be eligible for MoD security clearance.
In return you will receive a salary of £84,000 pa, car and bonus.
