Introduction:

We have a fantastic opportunity to work with children and young people in a small children’s residential home in both the Ilminster and Yeovil areas.

The Organisation:

You will be part of a well-respected national organisation that provides support to children and young people who have a range of needs. Despite their continued growth and success, employees describe this organisation as personal and caring, and enjoy working for an organisation with such a positive ethos and which treats their staff as well as the young people they support.

The Opportunity:

This is a great time to be joining, as the organisation is expanding and is in the process of opening a number of new homes as a result of the positive outcomes they have been able to achieve for the children they support. You will be supporting children aged 8 – 18 years, who may have been disadvantaged in life, or may experience a range of difficulties, including learning difficulties or mental health needs. You will be supporting them with all aspects of life, and providing a positive adult role model, encouraging them to undertake positive, healthy activities and attend school, and also helping them to learn and develop into young adults.

About You:

Experience working with children is preferred, although transferable skills and experience will also be considered as full training will be given. You will be a caring individual with a passion for supporting others to help them achieve their full potential. You will have an understanding of the needs of children, and will be able to respond appropriately to any incidents of challenging behaviour. You will need to be somewhat resilient, as this role can be pretty challenging at times. But you will have the support of an understanding, friendly and approachable manager, and a supportive staff team.

You will need to be able to work flexibly as this is a 24 hour service. The shift pattern will be 2 days on (including sleep-ins), 4 days off.
You will also need to be a driver with your own vehicle and a manual driving licence.

Salary and benefits:

The salary for this role will be in the region of £26,000including payment for sleep in shifts. You will also benefits from excellent training and development, and will be given the opportunity to gain formal qualifications. There are plenty of opportunities for progression, including `fast track` options for those with the right skills, knowledge and ambition.
