Recovery and Reablement Worker

Are you a recovery worker with experience of homelessness? Do you understand the support needs surrounding alcohol dependency and substance misuse? This is the job for you!

Working together within a small but dedicated team, you will be based in a hostel setting supporting service users who are homeless single men and women with substance misuse troubles and/or mental health. You will be working for an organisation that truly values both its staff and the people it supports.

Day to day, you will be working with service users with a variety of needs including alcohol dependency, substance misuse, and/or mental health. Service users are typically housed within the hostel for 6-18 months and will require various levels of care. There are those who require support every day and those who require support once per week and within your workload of 9 cases, you will have a mixture.

This job is as much a support worker role as it is a recovery and reablement worker role and as such, your day to day work with be made up of tasks from both elements of this work.

Your knowledge and understanding of care as well as housing, welfare and employment services will come in especially handy due to this as you will be advising service users on their housing needs, welfare and benefits such as employment support allowance or housing benefit, and any access to college courses, volunteering or paid employment. Your proactiveness and commitment to your service users will mean you are doing everything you can to improve daily condiditons.

Due to the nature of this role, you should ideally have 2+ years experience within alcohol/drug misuse and homelessness as well as sound knowledge of housing and welfare.

This job requires the right candidate (i.e. YOU) to work full time for 8 hours per day (day shifts), 5 days per week. 1 in every 4 Saturdays will also be a working day so the right candidate must be willing to work occassional weekends.

In return for your skills and knowledge, you will be offered a salary of £27,600per annum as well as 25 days annual leave in addition to your 8 days bank holiday. You will also have access to a number of other benefits which will be further discussed with you post-appointment.
