Salary: £60,000 – £72,000 per year
Redrock Recruitment require 2 Quantity Surveyors to work on new build developments for their client based in Radlett, Hertfordshire.
Our client is an award winning multi-disciplined building services and construction company with our Head Office based in Potters Bar. Their clients are primarily Local Authorities and Housing Associations, although they do also work within the private market and various other sectors. An opportunity has been made available for a resilient and proactive Quantity Surveyor within their expanding new build department in Potters Bar. This position requires the successful applicant to be able to work on some small infill sites in and around the Hertfordshire area as part of a small team. You will be primarily based in the Potters Bar office with site visits as and when required. We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor who has some experience on small to medium new build house and flat projects with a keen eye for detail and prides themselves on accuracy.
Applicants will need to have a QS Degree or equivalent qualification (this is essential). Additional training can be provided as necessary to help further knowledge as experience is gained to ensure continued development and quality improvement.
The role includes:
· Internal review of all costs and pricing
· Carry out analysis of subcontract invoices and quotations
· Liaise with on-site operatives to ensure all works are captured
· Identifying / pricing / negotiating variations
· Raise quotations and pricing variations to send to the client for approval
· Raise valuation applications, attend site (where necessary) for approvals and invoice accordingly
· Analyse supplier invoices ready for sign off / payment
· Prepare monthly reports
· Cashflow management forecasts
· Assist in final account agreements
· Assist in tender pricing submissions
· Supporting the project team where necessary
· Maintaining accurate records on the in-house database
· Understand PO procedures
· Answering phone/email communication
· Costing works for quotations to be issued to clients.
· Issuing orders to subcontractors and passing invoices for payment.
· Preparing cost estimates and bills of quantities for materials used on jobs
· Scanning, filing & archiving You must have:
· Strong communication skills both written and verbal
· Good knowledge of MS Word and Excel
· The ability to adhere to client and staff confidentiality obligations
· Commitment to meeting relevant client service standards
· Willingness to carry out any other duties required to meet with the needs of the business
· The ability to demonstrate a flexible and positive approach
· Flexibility regarding core working hours
· The ability to deal with external contractors ensuring timescales and budgets are met.
· The attitude of a team player that is committed to supporting colleagues throughout the business
· Good knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation
· The ability to work accurately to tight deadlines
· A current clean driving licence. A certain amount of travel will be required.
· Experience of working on new build projects is essential · 3 years’ experience in a similar role is preferred
