Salary: £36,000 – £42,000 per year

We have an excellent opportunity for a Quality Manager to work in Foston, Derbyshire for the UK’s number one dairy business and a company who believe in encouraging success – both business and personal.

Purpose of Job as Quality Manager
* Maintain and develop the Quality Management Systems (QMS) to meet site, customer and legal requirements
* Maintain Good Manufacturing Practice requirements for the site
* Manage a small team of staff to deliver QA for Operations

Nature & Scope of the Job
* Ensure that all site activities meet customer, legal and Dairy Crest Group requirements in order that finished product specifications are consistently met and site standards are maintained
* Implement Food Safety and Quality (including QPulse) to achieve and maintain accreditation to BRC / GMP and customer standards
* Promote quality achievement and performance improvement across the site, in particular via supplier assurance and QA
* Provide information and trend analysis and reports as required by the Technical Manager
* Be involved in the development of the Technical team and succession planning, in particular in relation to QA and the QS & Training Coordinator roles

Principal Accountabilities as Quality Manager
* Liaise with Group Technical to ensure complete and accurate completion of specifications,
* Complete the supplier assurance register, carrying out supplier audits and trials on site and coordinating suppler reviews
* Investigate incidences of non-conformances, and customer complaints and ensure that the corrective and preventative actions are followed up
* Maintaining and developing the site Food Safety, Quality systems to maintain accreditation status of the factory, including document control, pest control, laundry and waste management
* Ensure all reporting requirements are met (KPI’s, customer, quality) highlighting any trends requiring action to the Technical Manager
* Coordinating and presenting this data within the Quarterly Quality Reviews with site Management and Group Technical
* Coordinating internal audits of site departments and systems to comply with Food Safety, Quality, Hygiene requirements. To include hygiene & glass audits, internal audits for quality.
* Reviewing and coordinating the site HACCP systems and ensuring that they are updated in line with any changes to site operations
* Be involved in induction, food safety, basic HACCP training of personnel
* Assisting the Technical Manager in site Customer and third party audits
* Co-ordinate and maintain the Laboratory DCLAS accreditation, including Lab assets, eg calibration and servicing.
* Working to comply with the H & Safety at Work Regulations, including ensuring the Lab COSHH and Lab risk assessments are up to date
* Develop and manage the QS & Training Coordinator for succession planning within the Technical team
* Plans should be in place to ensure their own, the QA team and departmental objectives are met, through both the PDR and My Review assessment processes.
* Ensuring that the Technical budget is maintained

Knowledge & Experience Required
* Educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in Food / Dairy Science or Technology.
* Trained to Advanced standard in Food Hygiene & HACCP.
* Experience in management of a technical function within a food manufacturing environment
* A thorough understanding of Management Systems including ISO9000, BRC and current food legislation
* Experience of working with multiple retailers would be desirable

The Package
As Quality Manager you will be working 37hrs a week, Monday to Friday and there is a competitive salary on offer of £36,000 – £42,000per annum depending on experience.
