Our client is a leading utilities contractor that operates nationally throughout the UK that have won numerous awards for their projects completed using modern and innovative techniques. With a number of blue-chip clients and framework agreement that have an excellent reputation of delivering projects safely, to programme and budget. They provide on-going structured training and development for their employees and actively encourage career development from within.
They are now seeking to appoint a Project Manager to join their team based to join their successful team based in SE London.
Duties include:-
• To manage the resources necessary for the timely completion of the contract to the required standard, in a safe manner and in line with the company’s polices and procedures.
• To obtain the best possible return for the company, promote company image, working relationships and repeat business.
• Establish a management structure defining lines of communication and relationships between parties.
• Ensure that all personnel are made aware of their roles, responsibilities and levels of authority.
• Establish construction strategy, methodology and procedures
• Ensure the preparation of programmes, and method statements
• Monitor performance against programmes, forecasts, procedures and method statements and take action as necessary
• Procure competent labour necessary to complete the works
• Ensure accurate records are kept
• Ensure that all orders are placed in accordance with Company requirements and that all plant is checked for quantity and condition both onto and off the site.
• Ensure that all material is requisitioned, arrange the checking, storage and distribution and regularly monitor wastage of materials, taking corrective action where necessary.
• Determine which elements of the work are to be sub-contracted and ensure that the Company requirements for the placing of sub-contractors are followed.
• Hold regular meetings with sub contractors to monitor and record their programme, progress, resources deployed, quality management and health and safety.
• Ensure compliance by subcontractors with all legal and contractual matter and in particular, proper action by sub contractors on matters of safety.
• Produce the construction phase of the Health, Safety and Environmental, protection and Quality plan.
• Ensure that staff are familiar with and comply with the specific requirements and implement the procedures identified in the plan.
• To promote leadership by promoting an enthusiasm for Health, safety and environmental and quality issues.
• Preparation and review of contract budgets, forecasts, costs/value reconciliations, cost control systems and reports
• Ensure comprehensive and accurate records are maintained
• Appraise staff performance and develop the capabilities of the staff and make recommendations for training where necessary
The successful person will have:-
• A minimum of three years UK experience as a Project Manager working within the Civils/utilities sectors
• A relevant HNC/Degree qualification (highly desirable not essential)
• First class communication, organisation and motivational skills
• Be commercially and contractually aware
• Excellent knowledge of HSEQ
• IT Literate
• Full UK Drivers Licence
• Stable work history
