Project Engineering Consultant (Defence / Energy) Bristol / Birmingham

OVERVIEW: Project Manager / Project Engineering Consultant – Would suit a Project Engineering Consultant / Project Manager with strong defence or energy industry CONSULTANCY experience. Salary to C£60,000plus fantastic benefits package.

LOCATION:- Local office is BRISTOL OR LICHFIELD (near Birmingham) however candidates may live anywhere within commuting distance of EITHER office and will mostly be on client sites in the vicinity, but a degree of flexibility IS required to work away during the week occasionally if required.

THE ROLE:-
Reporting to the Project Engineering Lead you will;
– provide a range of project engineering services to Defence and Energy customers, both independently and as part of small teams.
– deploy a range of project focused techniques and methodologies to influence customer decisions, based on accurate evidence and analysis. Solving customer problems in highly technical and constrained environments e.g. Defence procurement or Nuclear power.
– have experience in a project related discipline (Project management, Scheduling, Cost Engineering or similar)
– be a key member of the Project Engineering Group, and support the Group Lead in the development of the overall capability as well as the technical competence of members of the team.
– have line management responsibility for a small number of junior consultants, located on geographically diverse sites, monitoring performance and supporting professional development.
– provide support to the Business Development function in identifying opportunities and developing propositions, predominantly with existing customer or capability offerings.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:-
– Likely to be educated to degree level in a technical engineering discipline, or with equivalent professional experience.
– a good understanding of project management principles and techniques (including stakeholder management, requirements management, risk, scope management, scheduling, resource management, configuration management, configuration control, change management, project implementation and earned value management), and demonstrable experience in some of these areas.
– Knowledge of project engineering principles and standards;
– Experience of working in a project environment, influencing stakeholder decision-making;
– Specific project engineering skills, demonstrated through experience or a qualification such as the APMP, PMI and PRINCE2;
– Hands-on experience of project management tool-sets such as Microsoft Project or Primavera;
– Technical analysis;
