Product Metallurgist

Salary: £31,800 – £56,400 per year

Elevation Engineering & Technical are working with a market leading manufacturing business based in Sheffield on a Product Metallurgist vacancy as they continue to grow their technical engineering department in 2021. This career defining opportunity will allow the successful candidate to work within an established and experienced technical team and play a pivotal role in the metallurgical processes/product work on site.

The Product Metallurgist’s duties and responsibilities include:

– Generation and approval of test plans and quality specifications within the site ERP
system.
– Development of process routes in the site ERP system, including the definition of key
process parameters.
– Providing technical expertise cross functionally supporting the Metallurgy and Pyrometry Manager with the calculation of departmental KPI’s.
– Active involvement in the sites APQP initiative for new product introduction including
the assessment of site capability to satisfy the customer requirements.
– Governance of the technical aspect of the site’s estimation process in the absence of the
Product Engineer.
– Develop continuous improvement projects and processes across the site, taking ownership of cost saving and productivity improvement activities
– Complete technical review of incoming purchase orders and specifications

I am keen to speak to metallurgists with the following:

– A Metallurgy or Material Science Degree or similar/relevant qualifications and/or experience
– Experience working within hot metals would be advantageous
– Working knowledge of quality tools (such as APQP, FMEA, 6 Sigma, 8D, 5 Why) would also be
advantageous
– A strong, professional and analytical approach to problem solving, presenting information and day to day tasks
