Product Manager

Our client, a market leading company within financial services arena, have created a new role within the Group, the Product Manager will be responsible for owning and evolving our client’s new customer portal

As well as managing the day-to-day running of the product, the role will be instrumental in mapping out the vision and strategy of the application. This will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to capture business requirements, ensuring the product continues to provide a high level of service to customers, meeting their needs and expectations.

In addition to owning the product itself, the Product Manager will also be responsible for the end-to-end customer journey, continuously reviewing user experience and feedback so that enhancements can be made where necessary, allowing us to grow and optimise the Luna platform to make it our customers’ one-stop shop for their financial needs.

Principal Responsibilities

* Map out and successfully deliver the vision and strategy for the company Application

* Clearly define and manage the product lifecycle and roadmap through documented ongoing feature development in a scaled agile framework portfolio, creating business cases for enhancements and new developments

* Work closely with the IT Director and technical teams to define and write clear technical requirements and acceptance criteria to enable the successful delivery of new features and enhancements for the platform

* Work closely with technical teams to define functional and non-functional requirements, and collaborate to ensure the vision aligns with technical capabilities

* As constraints are identified, monitor, review and adapt the strategy and future roadmap, whilst staying on course to the overall product vision

* Monitor product performance and ensure continuous product improvement through translating the product vision and roadmap to delivery and operational teams

* Apply a strategic mind-set to user stories, with consideration of business goals and expectations, and user desirability with what can be delivered, taking into account technical constraints as well as available time and budget

* Ensure that any all department heads are engaged with any changes so that there is full company engagement

* Be heavily involved in regular scrum meetings, participating in and leading sprints when required

* Chair regular product meetings, applying business analysis skills to define specifications and produce brand consistent content, and always representing the voice of the customer

* Act as the primary source of information and expertise for Luna internally, whilst providing clarity on both technical and commercial issues when needed

* Take responsibility for ensuring that the most up to date technical and product knowledge is circulated throughout the Group regarding Luna, including all business/product documents and training

* Analyse and review the end-to-end customer journey and experience throughout the Luna platform, across multi-channel and devices to make recommendations for improvement

* Write user stories, shape product backlogs and control the products’ journey from a customer design perspective, including prioritising conflicting requirements

* Conduct competitor reviews to ensure our customers’ experience is developing alongside customer needs and expectations, as well as competitor improvements

* Translate analytical findings into actionable insights, business actions and recommendations

Knowledge

* Maintain a high level of understanding and knowledge of our client Groups’ products and services in order to understand and support processes and project deliverables.

* Take responsibility for own personal development in line with agreed performance objectives

* Support colleagues and team members with investigating and resolving product and services issues.

Background, Experience & Skills Required

Experience:

in a B2C software Product Manager role would be highly preferable

Background of working in a technical environment/role where software is a key component

Experience of working with software development teams using agile/scrum methodology

Ability to demonstrate experience in requirement gathering, product design and analysis

Capable of confidently and articulately presenting and driving meetings with colleagues and senior stakeholders

Awareness (and ideally practical use) of product management concepts including Agile, Scrum, Kanban and the Product Lifecycle

Background of working with a software product, meaning comfortable writing technical descriptions, working on complex applications, and managing the technical issues and problem-solving opportunities this can present

Ability to demonstrate experience of working on end-to-end product journeys from conception to writing feature updates, comfortable in a continuous release/improvement system

Demonstrably customer centric, believing in user driven development and championing this in the development of products and features

Technically adept and highly IT literate with a strong aptitude towards working with data and systems
