At the heart of the multi-disciplinary engineering team, you will ensure manufacturing processes are optimised using the best time-efficient and cost-effective solutions so objectives are completed to plan.

You will be actively involved in both the development phases of new products and improvements to existing equipment and processes, delivering outstanding results. With strong hands-on mechanical engineering assembly and manufacturing expertise, ideally with some hydraulic and electrical knowledge, you’ll bring continuous improvement ideas and design skills including DFM and Lean techniques to the team.

Process Engineer tasks and responsibilities:

  • Tooling design for efficient manufacturing and QC including production of associated drawings and documents
  • Develop, maintain and update all SOP’s for manufacturing, along with accurate production BOM’s using the ERP system
  • Participate in prototype build and then lead the first production run, so the new product introductions are right first time, using a considered stage gate process and design for manufacturing techniques
  • Identify and drive continuous improvements for existing products, promoting and developing lean manufacturing techniques through to providing technical support for the production floor
  • Mentor colleagues, build strong working relationships with stakeholders and sub-contractors, this influential role is at the heart of a beating, busy team.

Process Engineer skills and qualities:

  • Great experience in mechanical engineering manufacturing with demonstrable process involvement
  • A relevant engineering or production qualification, you may be apprentice trained with a hands-on passion for mechanical engineering, with a good understanding of Design for Manufacture and lean techniques so positively influence assembly times
  • CAD skills using Solidworks or similar, for tooling design, product layouts and more
  • A self-motivated team player who can provide creative solutions and methods to engineering problems, show commercial flair and a real passion for the long-term commitment to achieve results
  • Strong IT skills should include Word, Excel, with knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
  • Excellent communication skills to update and write accurate SOP’s and validate BOM’s
  • Influencing, mentoring, organisation and a pro-active approach with a passion for engineering
