PHP Development Engineer/Web Application Developer
Location: Reading, UK

£40K – £55K

Our Client is looking to recruit a Website/PHP development engineer to join our rapidly expanding business. As part of our engineering team you will be responsible for extending and maintaining our web sites, developed using Drupal (Training on Drupal provided if required) and PHP. A proportion of your time will also involve developing PHP based customer extensions for our cloud based CRM service.

Responsibilities:
• Maintaining and extending our Drupal based website and community sites including the development of custom PHP extensions.
• Analysis, specification, design, development and testing of PHP applications for Workbooks customers to interact with the Workbooks platform and other third-party applications.
• Working with the Service Delivery Team and customers to clearly define the requirements for customer application development.
• To build good working relationships with customers and other members of the Workbooks team.
• To be professional and conduct yourself with integrity at all times.

Experience and Skills:
Candidates should be able to demonstrate directly relevant experience including:
Essential Skills:
• Expert knowledge of PHP
• Proven ability to develop Web Applications using modern HTML/CSS, JQuery/AJAX, PHP
• Full Software Lifecycle Experience. (Specification, Implementation &Testing)
• Attention to detail and a high standard of work.
• Experience of one or more Content Management Systems. Use of source code control systems, such as Github or Subversion.
• A willingness to learn new skills and ‘go the extra mile’.
• Good interpersonal skills and a being a team player.
• Ability to work with stakeholders from different departments.
• Problem solving, task prioritisation, communication, administration and organisation skills.

Desirable Skills:
• Knowledge of Drupal Version 7
• Experience with Linux, Apache & MySQL
• The ability to use graphic design packages such as Photoshop or GIMP
