Operations Manager: Soil treatment facility
West Midlands
My client operates a number of treatment centres within the UK offering environmentally friendly disposal services to a range of hazardous and non hazardous wastes from the construction, demolition and waste industries.
This is an extremely exciting opportunity you will play a key role in setting up a brand new soil treatment facility from scratch.
Role/ Responsibilities:
– Managing and playing a key role in the setting up of a brand new soil treatment facility, overseeing consultants and contractors during site development.
– Manage all operational aspects and processes in accordance with internal procedures.
– The Operations Manager is also responsible for permitting and ensuring the hub remains in compliance with all applicable regulations during operation.
– Day to day monitoring of facility efficiency (including waste inputs and outputs) and instruct operations staff to optimise the facility accordingly.
– Responsibility for hiring, training, mentoring, developing, scheduling, directing, managing performance and other related issues;
– Seek out business opportunities and generate new business to help grow the sites production.
– Responsible for admin, weighbridge staff and operations foreman – all traffic in and out.
– Hub Health & Safety (H&S).
Qualifications and Experience:
– An Engineer, qualified to HND or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline.
– The candidate should hold Certificate of Technical Competence (CoTC 4). IOSH Managing Safely or SMSTS for H and S qualifications.
– Ideally a good working knowledge of remediation, recycling or similar industry, preferably having experience at a Management level in one of these areas.
– Knowledge of current H&S legislation and safe working systems.
– Knowledge of Environmental Permits and associated reporting regime.
– Knowledge of Development Industry Code of Practice.
– Experience of managing budgets and in training and development of staff.
– Analytical ability and enthusiastic and competent problem solver with a practical approach to solving problems.
– A proven team leader with good communication and organisational skills, able to manage, coach and motivate the operations teams.
