Operations Manager
Based in Gloucestershire

The Client:

A leading independent supplier of specialised packaging for industrial and medical applications.
The businesses’ market and product knowledge, along with their highly experienced technical development resources, enables them to support customers with product development and innovation.

The Role:
Responsible for all site operations – manufacturing, engineering services, site maintenance and logistics. This extends to leadership of people and core operations, and for operational strategy, budgets and project delivery.

Following a recent restructuring and streamlining of the product portfolio, the business has a strong growth agenda which the Operations Manager will contribute towards as an integral part of the senior management team, and plan for and deliver against within the scope of Operations

⦁ Developing, delivering and continuous improvement of a robust HSE system and ensuring its implementation.
⦁ Presenting, agreeing and managing operational budgets.
⦁ Managing factory operations, including staffing, planning, manufacturing, logistics (goods In, despatch, internal material movements) and engineering support to meet customer satisfaction, and required output with minimum leakage.
⦁ Embedding a continuous improvement quality mindset across the operations organization.
⦁ Creating and monitoring projects and teams.
⦁ Supervising and evaluating the performance of operations team-members, and ensuring their commitment through contributing to their sense of wellbeing at work
⦁ Ensuring key performance indicators are in place and production and quality targets are met.
⦁ Planning and facilitating site security.
⦁ Ensuring that all production equipment is maintained and in safe working order.
⦁ Ensuring that production processes are robust and able to cope with future sales growth.
⦁ Providing required facilities and support services to on-site tenant.
⦁ Managing the facility’s third-party contractors, vendors and service providers, including documenting procedures and managing contracts and ad hoc service requirements in the most cost-effective manner possible. Sourcing and purchasing of goods and services to support this.
⦁ With external providers as appropriate, managing continuing certifications and accreditations, environmental and operating permits.

The Profile:

⦁ Extensive experience gained In Operations or Production management roles within a manufacturing environment
⦁ Sound knowledge of production, quality and logistics systems, procedures and management
⦁ In depth knowledge and experience of managing people and teams
⦁ Experience in managing an ISO9000 Quality Management System
⦁ Experience in a manufacturing process involving film substrates and/or coatings advantageous but not essential
⦁ A can-do attitude
