Salary: £42,000 – £54,000 per year
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Operations Manager to work for an expanding manufacturing company within Haverhill which offers excellent growth opportunities for the individual.
There will be a 5 year growth plan for the successful candidate and offers a generous overall package with some great overall opportunities. The company currently operate a low staff turnover and are going from strength to strength.
General duties:
• Planning and controlling change
• Managing quality assurance programmes
• Researching new technologies and alternative methods of efficiency
• Setting and reviewing budgets and managing cost
• Overseeing inventory, distribution of goods and facility layout
• Site and facilities management
• Equipment maintenance, proposals and implementation
• Control of suppliers and contractors
• Compliance with all relevant Health & Safety legislation
• All of the above are required to be managed effectively to enable Operations to manufacture and deliver right product on time and as profitably as possible
Operational Brief:
Although an area where management would require input from the Operation Manager, examples of the types of items that may fall within the managers brief within the first year are as follows:
– Develop a programme that installs the manufacturing capacity (including Bespoke) to facilitate a 20% rise in demand over the next year. Includes: location, shifts, staffing (including support functions), costs with payback calculations
– Programme of improvements to reduce costs/raise productivity to improve profitability and provide lower cost base to enable more turnover to be ‘bought’ without losing too much margin
– Implement long term staff development plan
– Operate as key member of cross-functional IT team looking to maximise this area in improving the business internally (cost, reporting etc.) and for customer benefit (real time response etc.)
– Product development in response to sales initiatives e.g. technical advances
The ideal candidate:
• Industry background of either of the following – Print, Textiles, Sourcing/ Import Trading, Manufacturing
• Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing
• Someone who can keep calm under pressure and really wants to get to grips with the company and its values and visions
Other items to be included within the package would include:

Other key factors:
• Role could involve travel both within the UK and eventually overseas
• Role will not include excessive working hours, generally management would want the manager to work standard working hours 8.30am-5pm Mon-Friday to ensure they are able to operate effectively in the time that they are here.
