Operations Manager

My client is a leading manufacturer of chilled food products in the United Kingdom with a diverse product portfolio. Currently experience a period of sustained growth & increased capacity across the group; they are now looking to recruit an Operations Manager to lead their site based in Yorkshire.

To be considered for this role you must have extensive experience in Operational leadership within food a manufacturing environment. You will be able to demonstrate strong leadership and organisational development skills supported by a strong knowledge base of different types or production and lean manufacturing.

The Operations Managers responsibilities on a day to day basis your duties will include:

Overseeing all on site Production, Engineering, Procurement & Supply Chain Operations to create a highly motivated team, with a strong emphasis on lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
Ensuring that all production requirements are met with regards to quality, quantity and timescales.
Strictly control overhead costs, including labour costs, within the agreed parameters determined by the General Manager.
Creating a culture of continuous improvement where employees are encouraged to explore more cost effective solutions to production processes.
Organising the departmental managers to best utilise resources in accordance with the daily production schedule ensuring that each department is able to achieve its objectives.
Establishing and maintaining clear communications with the Departmental Managers and Supervisors as a group. Develop and coach this group of people to improve their leadership capabilities and empower them to make effective decisions.

Ideal candidates must have substantial operational experience within a food manufacturing environment. This position would ideally suit an individual who is an established operational professional with a strong background in food manufacturing. The position would for part of the on site senior management team – with prospects of future progression within the group.
