Salary: £26,000 per year

INTRODUCTION:

We are a leading private Hospital in Central London. We are looking for a Theatre Support Worker to work in our busy Operating Department. To assist with basic duties and activities to meet the needs of the Operating Department team under the supervision of a qualified member of staff.

Applicants must be enthusiastic and demonstrate a genuine interest in working with patients in the Operating Department setting. They will be required to possess NVQ Level 11 in Operating Department Practice or Healthcare or similar. The successful applicant will be required to participate fully in a flexible duty rota, which will include evenings and weekends, will have excellent communication skills, demonstrate reliability and have the ability to work under instruction within a multidisciplinary team.

SALARY:

£16,913 + benefits

JOB ROLE TO INCLUDE:

To assist the qualified Operating Theatre staff in the preparation, checking and cleaning of equipment and instrumentation required for daily operating lists.

To accompany outpatients to and from the Operating Department, ensuring that all outpatients have an escort, are offered refreshments following their procedure and that transport is arranged, when necessary.

To be aware of required standards of infection prevention and control and ensure they are maintained. To attend annual update in Infection Prevention and Control.

To assist the qualified staff in moving operating equipment in readiness for operations.

To assist in the checking and maintaining of all equipment used in the department.

Following appropriate training, to assist in the positioning and placing of equipment on to patients and the transfering of patients from the trolley to the operating table and vice versa.

To assist in the tidying and cleaning of the Operating Theatre between cases and at the end of the list.

To carefully and accurately label all specimens and ensure the Scrub Nurse checks all details before sending to laboratory.
To fill in all documentation accurately and concisely and ensure the Scrub Nurse checks and countersigns.

To check and pack instruments carefully with the registered practitioner in readiness for delivery to Synergy.

To answer telephone calls and staff bleeps when necessary, taking messages or referring calls to the most appropriate.

REQUIREMENTS:

A genuine interest in working with patients in the Operating Department setting.

Possess NVQ Level 11 in Operating Department Practice or Healthcare or similar

Participate fully in a flexible duty rota, which will include evenings and weekends

Excellent communication skills & English, demonstrate reliability

To have worked within a Hospital before either in Theatres or a HCA role

Excellent customer service skills
